Have been feverishly devouring information about this man and also been reading more of his thoughts in the below mentioned book…………………….

Till a couple of months back, I never knew that such a person walked the earth!

So, do you admire him or not? I think it’s the former…I dislike communists – enough said…
OG: haha 😛 I know your views bones. Yes, it is the former, else I would not blog about him !

    • November 17, 2010 4:13 am

Why not? You can blog about people you dislike…Don’t be such a goody-goody…
      OG: ok 😛
Communism is only good in theory…In practice, all communists commit excesses…It also kills the human spirit and that’s why it doesn’t last…
OG: agree but please read up on this dude………………. I am not a commie myself

No doubt he was a visionary and did a lot for women and the poor…BUT he was authoritarian and impatient and didn’t like criticism…He died to early so we don’t know what he would have been like if he had remained in power…Often, politicians and revolutionaries start off well but lose their way along the way…Maybe, BF needed a man like him…
OG: totally agree with what you said here bones! we would have known had he remained in power long enuff

        • November 18, 2010 2:20 am

An eg. of his authoritarian nature: he tried people without counsel for being corrupt, counter-revolutionaries or just lazy workers, based not on credible evidence just private grudges…

He encouraged the formation of Revolutionary Defense Committees, gangs of armed youth who terrorized ordinary citizens…When the nation’s school teachers went on strike, Sankara dismissed all of them, leaving the education system, his country’s greatest hope for progress, a shambles…
