Thalaivar Film Festival!

August 31, 2010

Many years back, when I was a kid in Chennai, one of my favorite programs on DD used to be “Oliyum Oliyum”; an hour of music.

I have been a fan of our Super Star for as long as I can remember, but there was this one particular song which had a line in it, “Super staru yaarune ketta, chinna kozhandhiyum sollum”, which basically means “even a small kid knows who the Super Star is”.

That song only cemented the position Super star had, in my impressionable mind.

Anyways, as part of the built up to the biggest release of this year “Endhiran”, the Rajni film festival has already started for me. For the last 2 weeks, I have been watching many of his films.

Our super star has acted in many films; emoted in many different songs but this one will remain my personal favorite from his great film “Mr. Bharath”.

Has your Thalaivar film festival started? 😉

*Sakshi stands 3 miles away from the curtained screen.
People watchings Sakshi with bated breath.
Sakshi takes the scissors in her hand and flips it up
Scissors do a boomerang, cut the inauguration ribbon on the screen….
comes back to Sakshi’s hand almost chopping off her rebellious hair 😯 *

err I was inaugurating the Superstar’s film festival
OG: hahahaha 😛 u have got to watch the latest film.. ok?

U have spoken about superstar and you haven’t kept even a reference of SRK? This post is a fraud!!
    OG: podi podi!
*crafty likely to be found killed in cold blood*

Oliyum Oliyum? 😀 I have no clue what that means, but it sounds so nice to say loudly!! Will do so to unsuspecting collegues…
OG: well, u got the meaning now!
Similar to ur childhood fav program in Chennai, i had a fav program on DD called “Chitrahaar” which was an hr of music too! 😀 😀 😀 all our daily activities were divided in 2 sections – “to be done before chitrahaar” and “to be done after”

Edhiran has been making news like how! One headline was – ” Thalaivar upsets fans by crediting the film expected success to other stars and the music director”. Apparently fans thought it crazy of him to “underestimate” his contribution to the film.

    Now, its time u confessed… u are one of those fans, aren’t u???!! 😈
    OG: hahaha 😛 maybe 😉
That songggggggg!!!! If it did not win the choreographer an award that year, then i am confident that awards are rigged!! the other guy with Ranji ain’t that bad either!! 😆

I am sure we’ll be getting a review of the film once u see it… so will wait for that!

What are the chances of attending this film festival of urs? I promise to eat my popcorn only by flinging it in the air and catching it like Rajni catches his cigarettes….
    OG: athu sheri!

Crafty, in tamil there are two “L”, one soft and one more stressed. Oli with a soft “L” sound means sound and Oli with a stressed “L” sound means light.

So oliyum oliyum means sound and light. 🙂

        Oh!! Thanks Uma! 😀
*adding this to her restrictive (non-existent) knowledge of the language*

Oliyum Oliyum Hugs to you!!! *don’t ask me what that is…just take them!!*

        😀 😀 😀

@ EOG: *Crafty has bought a billboard very close to EOG’s house, and is painting “PODA DEVIL” on it*

Oh, I am still a Rajni fan…if there is someone who can give an entertaining film, its him. Of course, he is the super star. 🙂
    OG: certainly!
Just look at his career – all the heroines with whom he has acted have become character artists / tv serial actors / tv show hosts / or taken up mother roles too….he is still considered to be young enough to act with girls younger than his daughter…. 😉 😉 But I love his movies. 🙂
OG: hahahaha 😛 so true 😛
Thats one of the super songs…ennnama kannu, soukiyama !!!! 🙂
    OG: yeah!

  4. August 31, 2010 7:15 am

I recoreded ‘Irumbile’ from Endhiran and I am going to post it a few days before the release. I am all excited !!!! Yeyyyyy !!!!
OG: aliya, waiting for it then 😛

  5. August 31, 2010 7:44 am

Oh I loooooooove both those songs… super star song wasn’t particularly pleasant, but yes, it etched a memory… for me super star in Indian cinema will always mean Rajini. And the other one, Yennama Kannu, that was a soooooooper song. Waiting to watch the latest movie!
    OG: same here!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. August 31, 2010 7:49 am

Rajni has not equals! He is the lone star in Indian cinema who can defy all laws of Physics including Gravity and make the whole audience nod in approval…A real James Bond! 😆
OG: ahahaha aliya 😛 but superstar is superstar!
    Can’t wait to see Endiram…

    • August 31, 2010 11:05 am

yeah, and we are the same ones who appreciate gravity defying stunts in movies like matrix too ! 😀 😀 😀

  7. September 1, 2010 10:00 am

Me too waiting for Endhiran 😀 😀 But I wonder whether the film will have Rajini’s style..

And this one me too like it much… only Rajini can pull it off with such style.. also we can’t forget Sathyaraj 😀 😀
