Great Food in 30 Minutes!!!

August 8, 2009

Note: I did touch up on most photos as the kitchen stove looks like a storm has hit it when I cook. ๐Ÿ˜›

ย My dear bloggers, suppose you guys are lazy to cook, or just have half an hour to whip something up, or if you guys do not have vegetables in the house, then the perfect thing to cook would be tomato rice with raita!!!! This would be the perfect dish for bachelors like me.

All you need for this cooking extravaganza are:

  1. Onions
  2. Tomatoes
  3. Green Chillies
  4. All the usual masalas.
  5. Rice, curd

It is really very easy to prepare and it tastes great and it takes approximately 30 mins to prepare this dish!!!

In the first 5 minutes; cut up the (3) onions, (6) tomatoes and (7) green chilies as shown in the below picture.
DSC00319

ย Heat the pan up, throw in the oil and the mustard seeds and wait for it to splutter and then throw in the onions saving some for the raita.

At the same time, also cook about 3 tumblers of rice for about 5 average capacity folks. If all 5 are good eaters like me, then you would need about 5-6 tumblers of rice.

For the next 10 minutes, let the onions fry in the pan. Once they start blushing and turn brown, throw in a bit of yellow powder and the tomatoes as shown below.
DSC00320

Please note, you will not need the ginger/garlic paste to make this stuff.

Increase the heat, and cover the pan. Now let this mixture cook for another 12 minutes. After 12 minutes, it should look something like this:
DSC00321

Now throw in every imaginable powder you have. I generally throw in generous amounts of red powder; garam masala powder, daniya powder and salt till my hands start hurting!!! Yes, that is my indicator!

Let this cook for another 4 minutes and by this time, the rice would also be ready!! The trick here (as per my mom) is that we should first let the rice cool down by transferring it to another vessel, and after that, mix it directly into the paste that has been cooked.

Your tomato rice with raita is ready!!!!!!!!!

What I had cooked, really tasted good!!! I am proud of myself.

PS: Watch this song for superstarโ€™s unparalleled style!!!!!

Am sure Vimmuuu has made up this process. The real one goes like this

      1. Go out and get on your bike.
      2. Start the vehicle and go.
      3. Stop at the nearest turn as it starts raining.
      4. Wait for the rain to stop & then start the vehicle and go.
      5. Stop midway because you realize that like an idiot you have forgotten to fill the petrol tank.
      6. Drag your vehicle to the nearest petrol pump.
      7. Take your Fiance’s call!!! Get caught by the traffice policewallah!!!
      8. Pay him the fine, start your vehicle and move.
      9. Get into the restuarant and order for tomato rice and raitha.
      10. Get the parcel and please follow step 1 and 2, but this time back home.
      11. Get a plate, switch on the tv and before you can start gobbling think that the above can make a good post…
      12. Keep the food aside, switch on the laptop
      13. Start typing like mad as the neighborhood cat eats his lunch!!!!
      14. End the post with a cry “I Had nothing for lunch”
      15. Start with 1 again ๐Ÿ˜€
      OG: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH:P good one smitha……………

The last lines cracked me up!

          11. Get a plate, switch on the tv and before you can start gobbling think that the above can make a good postโ€ฆ
          12. Keep the food aside, switch on the laptop
          13. Start typing like mad as the neighborhood cat eats his lunch!!!!
          14. End the post with a cry โ€œI Had nothing for lunchโ€
          15. Start with 1 again

          ROFL!!!!
